Titans of the Month - December 2012

The Titan teachers would like to congratulate the students who earned the "Titan Students of the Month" for the month of December. Congratulations and keep up the good work, we are very proud of you.

Community Service with a Smile

Near the holidays and always, it is important to take time to be grateful for what we have and to remember to help others in any way we can.  Over the weekend, teachers and students from Canonsburg Middle School volunteered their time to help the local food pantry provide food to those in need within our own community. Mrs. Wolf, Advanced Language Arts teacher, and Mrs. DeBlasio, Gifted Coordinator, are working with the gifted students to connect this service opportunity to the class structure evident in the play A Christmas Carol, which students are performing in Mrs. Wolf's class.  Also, the student council, under the direction of Mr. Manion, does a fundraiser each year to benefit the  local food pantry.  Thank you to all of the students who dedicated their time this weekend!

Titans of the Month - November 2012

Titan T-Shirt Day

Keep in mind that tomorrow is the annual CMS Dodgeball Tournament.  Be sure to wear your Titan team t-shirt to represent your homeroom and to represent your team!

Theme Day

This Friday November 9th, 2012 is crazy sock day. Wear your craziest, but school appropriate, socks for the day.

Thursday November 15th will be wear blue day to support students who have lost a loved one from their family.

Friday November 16th will be wear your favorite sports team jersey.

Report Cards

Report cards were passed out on Wednesday Nov. 7th. Please make sure to turn in the parent signature slip and conference slips to your homebase teacher as soon as possible.

Congratulations on a very successful first quarter. We hoped you enjoyed your time at CMS thus far. We are very proud of you and hope you will continue to excel in 7th grade and beyond.

Titans of the Month - October 2012

Last Day of the First Nine Week Period

Attention Titans. Tuesday October 30th is the last day of the first nine week marking period. Any missing assignments or enrichment opportunities must be turned in by the end of the day to receive full credit. This is your last chance to raise your grade before report cards are given.

Titan Enrichment Progam

Attention Titans. Your teachers will be staying after school on Wednesdays from 3:00 until 4:00 to help any students who are interested in participating in any enrichment programs and opportunities. Please review the following information for more details.

After School Meetings

1. Students are required to stay after school from 3:00 to 4:00 on Wednesday afternoons.

2. Students must have chosen an enrichment opportunity before they are allowed to stay after school. The enrichment opportunities can be found at the following site: https://sites.google.com/a/cmsd.k12.pa.us/cmstitans/enrichment-opportunity. Please list the enrichment opportunity the student is interested in below.

3. Students will be picked up at the front office on College St. at 4:00 pm.

CMS Supports Breast Cancer Awareness

CMS and the Titans are supporting breast cancer awareness by hosting several fund raisers over the next couple of weeks.

1. Students can buy a "Share Beauty Spread Hope" pink bracelet for $2.00. The sale runs from Mon Oct 15th through Wed Oct 24th. Bracelets can be bought during homeroom.

2. Students can donate $1.00 during homeroom to support Team Hedderman, named for our school guidance counselor who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and receive a donation tag. Tags will be displayed on the walls by the main office.

 3. Students can purchase a pink Team Hedderman T-shirt for $15.00 during homeroom.

 Help support our cause by donating to the Breast Cancer Awareness fund raisers.

Titan Yearbook Sale

On Wednesday October 10th the Titans will have a chance to purchase their yearbooks during homebase. Please make sure to bring your order form and money if you would like to purchase a book.

Wear Pink Day

The Canonsburg Middle School will be supporting breast cancer on Friday October 5th by having a wear pink theme day. Wear your pink clothes with pride.

Titan T-Shirt Day

Wear your new Titan T-shirts on Thursday September 27th, 2012.

Fit Day

Fit day will be this Friday September 21st. Be sure to check the weather for the day so you will be able to dress appropriately. The Titans this year will be wearing black shirts. If possible wear a black hoody or T-shirt for the day and don't forget your active wear, you will be participating in physical activities through out the day.

Open House

Open house is this Tuesday September 18, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.

April Students of the Month

The Titan teachers would like to congratulate Sabrina and Nate for earning the Titan Students of the Month for the month of April.  Keep up the great work!

National Aviary In-House Field Trip

On Friday, April 27th The National Aviary visited CMS to complement a 7th grade cross-curricular unit on HOOT and endangered species.  The aviary presented a program called "Amazing Adaptations," and brought along special guests, Red the Parrot, Preston the African Penguin, and Sirabi the Vulture.  Sirabi even took a special flight in the auditorium.  The afternoon enabled students to extend the HOOT related activities they are completing in their academic classes across the Titan team.  Check out the pictures below!

Congratulations Rylee!

The Titan teachers would like to congratulate Rylee K. for being chosen as a 1st place winner in the 2012 Pittsburgh Pirates Jackie Robinson Essay and Poetry Contest!  To complement a unit on poetry in Mrs. Wolf's Advanced Language Arts class, students wrote poems to meet the criteria for the contest.  Mrs. Wolf submitted the poems to the Pirates organization, and out of 2,700 entries, Rylee K. was chosen as the first place winner!  All of the Titan teachers are very proud of Rylee K. for her accomplishments.  Check out the winning poem below!
